BASF Coatings partners with Xiaomi to co-create 100 car colors and redefine automotive aesthetics
The initiative aims to drive innovation and personalization in automotive color design, redefining the visual language of smart mobility. As Xiaomi’s coatings partner since 2023, BASF Coatings plays a pivotal role in this project. For the first batch of new colors, BASF Coatings contributed throughout the entire process from R&D to mass production, providing full-layer coating solutions from e-coat, primer, basecoat to clearcoat.

SAIC-GM-Wuling unveiled the new Bingo S – a perfect interpretation of chromatic beauty and modern mobility design. The successful launch of the Bingo S marks another milestone for the deep collaboration and joint innovation between BASF Coatings and SAIC-GM-Wuling. Four exclusive colors – Relaxed Gray, Free Blue, Leisure Purple, and Clear White – bring iridescent aesthetics to life.

A collaboration with Renault and Dürr, setting new industry standards
BASF Coatings, in collaboration with Renault Group and Dürr, had redefined the future of automotive manufacturing with the Overspray-Free Application (OFLA) process (also known as Jetprint at Renault). The trio was awarded the “Trophée de l’Industrie s’engage 2025” in the Innovative Process category at the “L’industrie s’engage par l’Usine Nouvelle” event in June 2025.

2024 Supplier Award from Ford Motor Company
BASF has received a 2024 Supplier Award from Ford Motor Company - an honor given to just 18 companies out of more than 5,000 global suppliers. It’s the first time BASF has been recognized with this award, and we are proud to be the only paint supplier included. The award celebrates outstanding performance across the Delivery category. Dongfeng Nissan N7
On April 27, Dongfeng Nissan's new battery electric model N7 was officially launched. Combining Nissan's global and Chinese designs, N7 offers six car colors: Flowing Silver, Frost White, Oatmeal, Ink Blue, Cyan, and Black. Each color is stunning and captivating at first sight. N7 is not only a leap for Dongfeng Nissan in the field of electric vehicles but also marks a new milestone in the long-term cooperation between BASF Coatings and Dongfeng Nissan.
Renault R4
Efficiency gains through two-tone painting process for Renault R4 production! We are proud to have witnessed the start of production of the new Renault R4 in Maubeuge, featuring an innovative two-tone painting process. The use of an overspray-free application technique, developed by BASF Coatings in collaboration with Dürr and Renault, is transforming the application process at the Maubeuge manufacturing plant.

General Motors presented BASF Coatings with a 2024 Supplier of the Year Award at GM’s 33rd annual Supplier of the Year event in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. BASF Coatings, a leading global supplier of innovative coatings solutions, and NIO, a pioneer in the global smart electric vehicle market, have announced the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) aimed at establishing a strategic partnership to enhance cooperation in the automotive coatings sector. This collaboration marks a significant step towards achieving a long-term and mutually beneficial relationship, focusing on automotive exterior coatings for NIO’s electric vehicles.

BASF Coatings has partnered with Baojun Yunhai, a rising star under SGM-Wuling! Inspired by the culture of Chinese steed, the Baojun Yunhai series introduces four beautiful car colors: Chaoying Grey, Yuhui White, Tengyun Blue, and Zhuri Orange.
